Why choose GreenTag certified products?

A wide range of Siniat’s plasterboard products has been certified to GreenRate Level A under the Global GreenTag’s certification scheme.

Global GreenTag is a robust, trusted and widely recognised ecolabel. Their GreenRate program is a product rating system designed to meet the requirements of the Green Building Council of Australia’s Green Star® ‘Sustainable Products’ credits.

The following Siniat boards are all certified GreenRate Level A: Trurock and Trurock HD, Mastashield, Opal, Fireshield, Watershield, Spanshield, Soundshield, Multishield, Curveshield, Shaftliner and Intershield. In Green Star, Level A equates to 100% of the credit points available.

“We are very proud of having achieved the GreenRate Level A for this range of locally made plasterboard,” said Kathryn Walker, Etex Regional WHS and Sustainability Manager (APAC).

“It’s not easy to achieve a Level A certification,” Kathryn explains. “Products are assessed across a range of attributes including toxicity, health effects and safety, whether they are ‘Fit-for-Purpose’ such as for acoustic performance, as well as environment and social responsibility in manufacturing operations.”

The certification process includes evaluating a product and its ingredients at various stages considering a wide range of aspects which can include resource use, waste reduction, availability of greenhouse and water footprints.

GreenTag Certifications are approved for a three-year period but renewed annually with manufacturer ingredient and supply chain consistency declarations and review.

Why do we get our products certified?

  • Third party certification has become a standard requirement for specifiers who build towards Green Star ratings.
  • Products with GreenTag certification can result in a significant time saving for architects, designers and builders when selecting sustainable products, and drastically reduce their legal and professional indemnity risk.
  • A GreenTag certification also provides an easy way for designers to communicate the complexity of sustainability to their clients and end users.
  • GreenTag is recognised by many expert organisations, including the WELL™ Building Institute, Green Building Council of Australia, Urban Development Institute of Australia and the Infrastructure Sustainability Consortium of Australia.
  • For Siniat the GreenTag certification is further testimony to our commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices and providing sustainable products to the industry.

All of Siniat’s certified plasterboard products are also available under the Opt2Act carbon neutral opt-in program. Under the program, opted-in products are supplied carbon neutral, certified by Climate Active. The exception is Opal, which is supplied carbon neutral as standard.

Most of Siniat’s metal framing products can also be supplied carbon neutral under Opt2Act.

Siniat also has Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) available for locally made plasterboard and metal framing products.
